Post Re: Audec Version 2.08
Lee, I couldnt get W7 to work with the Audec either, hence why I use XP Pro for everything.

Try this and see if this works for the Stereo Mix:

First, update the sound card driver (you will find this on the PC manufacturers website if it is onboard sound, if it is dedicated sound you will need to visit the soundcard manufacturer website)

If the stereo mix option is still not there, try this:

1. Click the Start Button, type "MMSYS.CPL" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box and press Enter.

2. On Recording tab, right-click on the blank area

3. Check “Show Disabled Devices” and “Show Disconnected Devices” and the Stereo Mix should show up.

If it is disabled, right click on it and choose Enable.

I know you said you had tried it, but give it another go once you have updated your audio drivers. Let me know what happens and I can help you more.

Rich

We have identified that a minor improvement will be made which will improve the install success rate on Windows 7 machines. We're working on this :-) - Sorry for the bother!

Is the audio meter supposed to be this 'jiggery' (sorry couldn't think of a better word!) It used to flow up and down nicely with the audio but now it seems to be very stop-start. Am I using too high a broadcast level?

The additional processing is only for the Ultra quality I believe. It's your on the "lower 3" settings and that's happening - then its abit of a worry. What setting is it?

It doesnt help that Microsoft have disabled stereo mix as default now, something to do with Digital Rights Management.....

The "jiggery" levels are not a worry - it always happens to me when I'm doing a show, because I have so many windows open etc
As long as the red bars are moving, its all good! Its just graphically that its not displaying as expected, due to the fact that your PC is prioritising the actual playout rather than graphic elements of the broadcaster.

Carry on as normal Ollie!

Ultra does take the most resources by far yes but also the other settings do take more as you go up the levels, including bandwidth.

I use a low-ish spec machine and use a higher than Ultra quality and yes mine does jitter at times but it's nothing to worry about - the broadcasting takes priority all day long.

So no, there is nothing to worry about - it's if you keep falling off air then you should worry ;)

Cheers Rich but no joy.

I have setup my XP computer again and installed the old broadcaster just so I can do my show tomorrow night.

Thanks again.

Just to let you know guys, this obviously doesn't affect all Windows 7 machines. My new laptop had Vista, which I upgraded to Windows 7 and I've had no problems using either version of Audec.

Don't know if that info's any help, if not then feel free to ignore me! :D

Hi Owena,

How did you enable the Stereo Mix?

It was never an issue - it was always there when the laptop was on Vista, and on W7 nothing changed. Stereo mix has always been visible and selectable.

Having said that, I don't use it for my Reach shows, as I use an external mixer fed back into the laptop via the line in input, so on Audec I use line in as the source.

Laptop > Numark DJIO USB soundcard > mixer, then mixer via jack cable to line in on laptop.

Works a treat for me!

Thanks for the update Owen, it's to do with permissions. Windows 7 needs full admin control which most users don't use. We need to change this as it is a bit of an issue.
